Job Overview:
This job involves classifying merchandise based on customs regulations (RGCE Annex 22), handling restrictions, and determining the correct import/export duty rates. You will also perform various office tasks and directly or indirectly interact with customers.
General Job Description:
You will work under general supervision and be responsible for:
- Classifying merchandise: Following customs regulations to decide the proper category and duty rates for goods.
- Administrative and clerical tasks: Completing forms, preparing reports, and maintaining records related to customs duties and customer transactions.
- Customer support: Helping customers with any issues related to customs, imports, or exports.
- Reporting: Typing and preparing different reports about the company’s operations.
- Record management: Keeping all records and files organized and conducting regular audits.
- Support to Manager: Providing administrative assistance when needed.
- Other duties: You may be asked to perform other tasks as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- At least 18 months of experience in customs clearance and brokerage activities.
- Previous experience working in an office environment or customer service role.
Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of import and export duties and regulations.
- Basic office skills such as typing, filing, and using computers.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with people.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds and move packages weighing up to 150 pounds with equipment.
- Must present a clean and neat appearance.
- Being fluent in English is preferred but not required.
